One of the oldest sheep breeds in the United States, descended from Spanish flocks brought to Florida in the 1500s. Small, hardy, and heat- and parasite-tolerant, they thrive on rough forage in the humid Southeast. Listed as Critical by The Livestock Conservancy and included in its Shave 'Em to Save 'Em fiber program.
